A creative outlet I enjoy: I love diving into board games, tarot, and writing. They give me space to connect, play, and imagine new possibilities.
-
My favorite way to enjoy nature: Spending time on my homestead with my ducks, chickens, and goats keeps me grounded and connected to the rhythms of the earth.
-
One word to describe my therapy approach: Creative/Jungian
-
A feeling I want clients to take from therapy is: The empowerment to embrace their authentic self, explore their shadow, and find playfulness in the process of growth.
-
My supervision style: I provide supervision that is collaborative, creative, and growth-oriented. I focus on helping supervisees explore their own voice and presence in the room while encouraging them to integrate playfulness, authenticity, and shadow work into their practice. I balance support with challenge by asking thoughtful questions, offering perspective-taking, and inviting flexibility in how therapy can look. My goal is to create a space where supervisees feel both safe and challenged; able to try new approaches, reflect on their identity as therapists, and build confidence in their clinical decision-making.
About Kyra Rivenloch, LCSW, RPT-S - Founder of Creative Directions Counseling & Consulting
Hi, I’m Kyra. I founded Creative Directions in April 2020 because I wanted therapy to feel real... playful, creative, weird, messy, and honest. A space where people could show up exactly as they are and know that it’s enough.
My path has woven together both traditional and unconventional training. I hold a Bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Studies from Arizona State University and a Master of Social Work from USC with a focus on Community Organization, Planning, and Administration. I am currently working toward my MA and PhD in East-West Psychology at CIIS, where I am studying how psychology and spirituality meet in healing practices.
In 2024, I expanded Creative Directions with Pathways to Wellness, a program dedicated to whole-person care. Pathways offers Tarot Tuesdays, journaling groups, yoga, metaphysical practices, and even skincare education. I believe healing can take many forms, including ritual, movement, reflection, energy work, and community.
My clinical specialty is play therapy, particularly child-centered, synergetic, and Jungian approaches. I consider myself an intuitive play therapist, which means I meet clients where they are and use the tools that best support their growth in the moment. I trust the natural unfolding of the therapy process.
In 2025, I chose the name Kyra Rivenloch as part of a process of personal reclamation. The decision was inspired by a play therapy training on the power of names and identity. It helped me recognize the stories carried in my maiden name and my married name, and the importance of claiming a name that is fully my own. Rivenloch means “transformative waters” and reflects both my Celtic and Viking ancestry as well as my journey of growth and becoming.
Outside of therapy, I am deeply engaged in the metaphysical world. Tarot, energy work, and intuitive practices are part of how I connect with myself and others. At home, I live on a lively farm with ducks, chickens, goats, snakes, birds, cats, and dogs. I also love Dungeons & Dragons, board games, video games, and reading, all of which give me ways to explore imagination and play.
My mission is simple: to help people feel safe enough to be fully themselves. I want to create a space where healing feels meaningful, and where therapy can hold magic, laughter, growth, and transformation.
