  • One word to describe my therapy approach: Holistic

  • A feeling I want clients to take from therapy is: A feeling I would want clients to take from therapy is empowerment. This feeling reflects a renewed sense of control and confidence in their ability to handle challenges, make decisions, and grow. Empowerment means the client begins to recognize their own strengths, resources, and potential for change. For some, it may also be tied to their spiritual beliefs, where they feel supported by a higher power in overcoming life’s obstacles.

  • About MeAngela started her counseling career working in addiction treatment, where she gained invaluable experience at a residential treatment center and detox facility. It was there where she  developed her passion for helping individuals navigate their recovery from addiction. This led Angela to pursue a Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work. During Angela's time at the University of Denver, she was selected as a Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program Fellow. In this role, she received additional education alongside advanced nurse practitioners, learning how to best support clients living with dementia and their caregivers. - While in graduate school, Angela broadened her expertise by exploring other areas of social work, including hospice and palliative care, grief and loss, and major life transitions. Angela's internship at the VA Hospital allowed her to work closely with individuals facing chronic illness and end-of-life, which has provided her with a unique understanding of the emotional and psychological impacts of these experiences. - Despite this exploration into other areas of social work, Angela's true passion remained in addiction counseling, where she went on to receive additional clinical experience and education, earning her Licensed Addiction Counselor credentials. Angela specializes in supporting individuals navigating long-term recovery, living healthy lives post-addiction, and managing co-occurring disorders that often accompany substance use challenges. - In addition to Angela's work with addiction, she has pursued further education to support older women, particularly during the transitional stages of perimenopause and menopause. Angela believes that addressing the mental health needs of women during these times is crucial, and she is committed to supporting them through these challenging life transitions. - Angela's therapeutic approach is harm-reduction focused, meeting clients where they are in their journey; with a trauma-sensitive, person-centered approach, ensuring that clients feel heard, safe, and supported as they work toward healing and growth.
